Frequently asked questions

Is glulam a good wall for year-round living near Moscow?

Yes, with the usual caveat: a 180–200 mm wall passes comfortably when the roof, windows and corner sealing are done properly. The wall alone is not where a timber house wins or loses on heating.

How long does a glulam house take?

The kit is milled in weeks and assembled in days; the schedule is set by the foundation, engineering and finish. Because settlement is only about 1–2 %, finishing starts weeks after the roof rather than a year later.

Does the glue make the house unhealthy?

Structural glulam is bonded with melamine or polyurethane systems rated E1, and the cured line is a fraction of a millimetre between layers of wood. Ask the plant which adhesive it uses and whether delamination tests are run.

Can it be assembled in winter?

Yes, and frozen ground often helps. What changes is the foundation schedule, the minimum application temperature of the sealing tape and the need to accept the kit on the truck rather than from under snow.

Why do some companies in the table have no score?

Because no review card met the two conditions: a website matching the company's domain and at least ten ratings. A dash means no data, not a bad company.

Do you take money for the ranking?

Positions are not sold. We may earn a referral fee if a reader contacts a company through us; the score comes from public cards and can be checked against them.
